Put your codes on your watch

Show cards, QR codes and links on a Wear OS watch, with your phone out of reach.

What you need

A Wear OS watch (Wear OS 3 or newer): a Pixel Watch, a Galaxy Watch4 or later, or another current Android watch. It has to be paired with an Android phone that has the Lynkarr app.

A plan from Starter up. On the free plan the Watch screen is in the app, locked.

Apple Watch is not supported, and neither are older Samsung watches that run Tizen (the Galaxy Watch3, the Watch Active2 and earlier): those cannot run Wear OS apps.

Put Lynkarr on the watch

  1. In the app on your phone, open More, then Watch.
  2. If it says Lynkarr isn't on your watch yet, press Open the Play Store on the watch, then install it on the watch. You can also open the Play Store on the watch yourself and search for Lynkarr.
  3. Go back to the Watch screen on your phone. It now says Lynkarr is on your watch.
There is nothing to sign in to on the watch. It shows what your phone sends it.

Choose what it shows

  1. On the Watch screen, press Add to the watch.
  2. Pick a card, a QR code, a short link, a form or a page. It is sent straight away.
  3. Add more, up to ten. Use the arrows to put them in order; the first one is the one on the watch's tile.
  4. To take one off, press the cross beside it. It stays in Lynkarr; only the watch loses it.

On the watch

Open Lynkarr on the watch and swipe up or down, or turn the crown, to move between your codes. Swipe right to close it. The screen goes to full brightness and stays on while a code is showing, because a dim code is one a camera gives up on.

A QR code you designed keeps its design. If a scanner struggles with it at that size, touch the code: it changes to plain black on white. Touch again for the design.

To add the tile, swipe left or right from the watch face to the end of your tiles, press Add tile, and choose Lynkarr code. It shows your first code, and touching it opens the app.

Tap a phone to the watch

On a watch with NFC, the code on screen can also be shared without a camera. With NFC switched on in the watch's settings, open the code and hold the other person's phone against the watch. The same link opens in their browser.

It works with the phone's screen on and unlocked: most Android phones, and iPhone XS or newer. A card shared this way is counted as a tap in the card's analytics.

Keeping it current

A code on the watch is a picture of it as it was when you added it. Where a dynamic code points can change without touching the watch, because the picture is the same. After changing a code's design, add it again to replace the picture.

If the watch was out of reach when you made a change, it catches up the next time the two connect. Send again on the Watch screen sends the whole list once more.

Signing out of the app on your phone takes the codes off the watch. If your company moves to a plan without the watch, the watch says so in place of the codes, and they come back when the plan does.
